How do we ensure that algorithms are free from bias, reflecting the diversity of the populations they serve? What happens to the doctor-patient relationship when a machine mediates the crucial connection of trust and empathy? The algorithm’s prediction is based on a vast dataset of similar cases, but the doctor cannot discern the specific factors that led the AI to its conclusion. Should the doctor blindly trust the AI’s recommendation, even if it contradicts their own clinical experience?
